Limited Inquiries

The inquires presented here are made up of copies of E-mail correspondence from various people that I found interesting. I am not offering a general inquiry page, however, as there are several wonderful tools for this already in existence.

I received the following e-mail and wanted to post it here in order to attempt to find a living descendant of the Young family who would be interested in claiming the Bible mentioned.

I am related to Elizabeth through her husband, Rev. Warner Hoyt as he would be my 5th cousin.  Walter Hoyt/Hoyte was Warner's 4th great grandfather, and my 8th great grandfather.

Subject: Hoyt genealogy

Hi, I have a few Hoyts in my family tree...and even some Heutis...but that is not why I'm writing today.

I have an old Bible which has no connection to my family.  The front cover has the name "Mrs. E. P. Hoyt" on it.

Inside the front cover is the following information:

"Mrs. Elizabeth P. Hoyt, Greenwich, Conn., daughter of Ard Reynolds and wife of the Rev. Warner Hoyt, Rector of _______ Church, Ridgefield, Conn.

After the death of her husband she lived with her children (and brought them up)in Greenwich, Conn.  She died in Joliet, Ill. in the winter of 1880-1881.

Her daughter, Anne Eliza Hoyt married Edward Young, then of Manhattan tp., Ill. Feb. 12(?) 1865.  In 1876 they sold their property and moved to Joliet, Ill.  After one or two years in Am___, IA, where Edward Young conducted a grain elevator, they moved to Chicago in 1891.  She died at the home of her son, Georg Warner Young, in Joliet, Ill, in 1931 at the age of 92
years.

This book was given by Mrs. Warner Hoyt to her daughter, Anne Eliza and by her to her son, Francis Edward Young, who die in Bismarck, N. Dakota in 1947.  It was sent after his death, by his wife, Dorothy, to his brother, John M. Young."

There is no other family information in the Bible.  It was published in 1860.   I'm searching for a direct descendant of Elizabeth P. Hoyt who would like to have this book.
