Obituary for Ur: "After being confined to his bed less than 2 weeks,Ur Hayes died at his home in Mt. Upton, Sunday afternoon, at theadvanced age of 87 years. He was the last remaining child of Ira andMargaret Hayes, who were pioneers in this valley and was born atLatham's Corners. With the exception of a few years spent atMcDonough, his long life has been spent in this valley. He
married Julia Ann Buckingham, with whom he lived about 60 years, shepassing on before May 23, 1888. Three children were born to them,Sarah, who lived but a few years; Thomas, who lived to be
25 years old, and Nathan, who survives him. Two years ago he marriedMrs. Corrinna Bowen, whom has tenderly cared for him and she, with theonly son, have the sympathy of all. Farming was his occupation whichhe carried on in connection with buying butter and on a recent visitto New York it was noticable how many commmission merchants rememberedUr Hayes. He was baptized and received into the M.E. Church by Rev.Weeks, and his place was rarely vacant until compelled by failinghealth. His nature was genial and sunny, a man of sterling worth andstrict integrity, whose memory will ever be cherished by all who werefortunate enough to be associated with him. His funeral was observedfrom his late home, Wed., Jan. 27th, at 2:30pm."
