All data from R. Tibbetts. The McKerricher's were Canadian Scots whosettled just north of Ft. Bragg at what is now known as Cleone. Theywere dairy farmers and donated land now known a McKerricher StatePark, one of the 3 major California State Parks in the Fort Braggarea.
During our vacations in the years 1957-59, while residing betweenCovina and Azusa, CA in Los Angeles Co. , the 3 of us, my wife Marie(Tobi), my son Reed H. and I would pile our camping gear in the FiatMultipla, and drive to Mc Kerricher Park for 2 weeks of camping. Wediscovered it on our first trip which we took without any idea ofwhere we were going to camp. I did not begin any true genealogicalresearch until the winter of 1995/96, and was unaware of theMcKerricher connection. For the illumination of the many, a FiatMultipla was an underpowered cab-over precursor to mini-vans. It couldtransport 5 passengers or 2 Passengers + 1000 # cargo. All of theseats folded down and made a full size bed for camping. It had a600cc. 4cyl inline engine. the pistons of which were about thediameter of a silver dollar. It was geared to 4 forward speeds andReverse. In low it would do about 10MPH at 4000RPM, but would not goup any hill of consequence in any other gear. While going up the gradefrom Ventura towards the San Fernando Valley we used to be passed bybicyclists!. After 40,000 miles I had to rebuild the engine (which Icould pick up by hand), after which I sold the Fiat promptly.
