Carol Behling graduated from Amery High School in 1939, and completedthe 2-year Rural Education course at River Falls Teachers College in1941. She taught one room rural schools in St. Croix County for twoyears.....Carol then enrolled in a 6 month Emergency Wartime Trainingcourse at the University of Missouri, in Aircraft Radio, followed by 6months work at Wright Air Force Base at Dayton, Ohio.....Carolenlisted in the Womens Army Air Corp, June 1944, had basic training atFt. Des Moines, Iowa, and was assigned to Arlington Hall, VA, whereshe served in the Army Signal Corps as an Electronic CryptographicRepairman. After her discharge in June 1946, she worked there onemore year as a Cryptographic Clerk, enjoying Washington, D. C. in herfree time.....Carol received her BS degree in Home Economics from theUniversity of Minnesota in Dec. 1949, and spent the next 18 years as astay-at-home mother, before moving to Madison in Nov. 1967. Sheworked as a Research Specialist at McArdle Laboratory for CancerResearch at the University of Wisconsin for 20 years. She has beenactive in genealogy since 1979 and joined the DAR in 1983. She hasserved her Chapter as Treasurer, Regent & Registrar. She was WisconsinDAR Lineage Research Chairman for 8 years, and has helped many womenjoin. She is also a member of the Wisconsin Society of MayflowerDescendants, with lineage from Francis Cooke and Richard Warren.
