Her placement as the wife of Joshua is speculation at this point and Ioffer my reasoning here via HHH data. McLeester
Though Sarah's birth date is not given nor is any except that of herbrother, Ephraim (1715), I speculate that she was born around 1685.This would have made her father and mother about 22 at the time of herbirth. As the children of Joshua were born after 1705 but before 1726Sarah would have been around 20 when the first was born and around 40when the last was born.
Joshua was born in 1672 and thus would have been 13 years older thanSarah. He died in 1726 at aged 54.
HHH tells us that Sarah was appointed the guardian of Abigail (theeldest) and Deborah (the next daughter on Feb 7 1726/27, that ThomasHoyt (Joshua's brother?) was appointed guardian of the next daughter,Lydia, on the same date, and that Sarah (the youngest daughter) hadThomas Barnum (her mother's father or her mother's brother?) appointedguardian on the same date.
As all 4 daughters had guardians appointed at the same time, they musthave all been in their minority (i.e. under 21) on Feb 7 1726/27. Thefact that their mother was appointed guardian of the two olderdaughters makes me think that they were nearer 21.
Joshua's brother, John, and Joshua's widow, Sarah, were appointed toadminister his estate on the same date as the guardianships wereappointed. His inventory was dated Jan 24 1726/27 in the estimatedamount of 659 pounds to be divided amoung his four minor childrenwhich was done on Feb 7 1726/27.

Data from Knapp and from Barnum. While there is a mountain ofevidence pointing to Sir Francis Barnham, Knight, MP and ElizabethLennard as being the parents of Thomas, no Barnum researcher hasproof.

Thomas was one of the first 8 settlers of the town of Danbury, Ct. The7 others were: Thomas Taylor, Francis Bushnell, John Hoyt, JamesBenedict, Samuel Benedict, James Beebe and Judah Gregory. Theypurchased the land from the Indians and commenced the preparations forsettlement in the year 1684 and all made their residences there in thespring of 1685. As far as known the first land record of this earlyCt. settler is on a Fairfield town book as follows:" 28nd Feb. 1673.Tho: Barnam hath by purchase of John Crump one parcel of land atMaximus, being in quantity by estimation three quarters of an acremore or less." Four of his children are recorded in Fairfield thus:see list of children.
The next record is in Norwalk:" Granted by the plantation unto Thos:Barnam a certaine
swampe lyinge neere the west side of Stonie brooke and not far ofSoabatucke hill, the sayed swampe containinge five acres more or lesseand lyeth bounded of west north and south with the
common land. Aprill the 30th, 1678."
Another record of Norwalk at the same time says the plantation grantedto Thomas Barnum- " three acres lying by the land said Thomaspurchased of John Rayment." Therefore he had previously becomepossessed of land there which had not been recorded, or if so therecords are not to be found. Also the precise entry made in Fairfieldof Thomas Barnum's 4 children is made in Norwalk. Hall's history ofNorwalk says:"Thomas Barnam, of Fairfield, had a grant [of land]before 1663." The same history gives the assessment of Mr. Barnam'sestate in lands in that town, in 1671 and 1687, as L 40. At the townmeeting in Norwalk, Nov. 8, 1681, he was "appointed to oversee theyouth in times of exercise on the Sabbath and other public meetings."The name is spelled in Fairfield and Norwalk "Barnam", but it may havebeen originally Burnham or Burnam, all 3 of which are English names.
* There was a Thomas Barnam in Springfield, Mass. in 1651, accordingto Savage's Genealogical Dictionary. Tradition, however, says ThomasBarnam of Norwalk, came first to New York and afterwards to Norwalk.He married as a second wife, Sarah, widow of John Hurd, Sen. ofStratford. Her husband, John Hurd, died in 1681.
She was the daughter of John Thompson, the first of that name inStratford. Thomas Barnum, Sen., died in Danbury, Dec. 26, 1695, about70 years of age, leaving no will. His estate, amounting to
L330-4-4, was divided among "five sons and five daughters, the eldestson to have a double portion." His widow, Sarah, returned toStratfield in Stratford, where she died June 1718, aged 76
years.
* In Burke's Encyclopedia of Heraldry is given the name "Barnam," witha coat of arms, thus:" Sa.[black] a cross between fourcrescents[silver]."
