Data from Cochran. Christian Co., Library gives death date.
In an e-mail Cochran tells the following story -
"Also, thought I'd use this to share a story of sorts on the Tom andAdeline Ellingsworth family, (of the buried $$ on his property) listedbelow in the Tory Cemetery info. Two of their children I believe theywould have been Blaine and Merrit, or possibly another one namedMaynard, that I have been
told. Anyway, it seems that they had something wrong with them, inthat they could not walk correctly, but had to "scoot" on theirbehinds to get-along. My grandmother told me, when she was alive, thatwhen Tom and Adeline went to Springfield in their horse-an-wagon, thekids would scoot alongside the wagon...(Can you just picture that!!)Guess they went through a lot of patches also, Grandma Alta said theseats of their pants always had patches.
The story is, is that Tom and Addie's wedding day, happened to be onthe day of a funeral or death -not for sure which- of one of herparents, and that folklore says, that anyone marrying on the day of aparents funeral, or death, will be bad luck for the newlyweds, andthat is why their children had
problems. This was also told to me from several other E's, mygreat-uncle Ralph, Tom Walker, a descendant of Nora EllingsworthWalker, and also a granddaughter of Marion and Loutisha Ellingsworth."
From the census that Morse supplied (see Robert E. Ellingsworth), 1860and 1870 say that Thomas was born in AR not MO.
