All data from Oberlies. Jeduthan was the first of the Onthanks tostray from Southboro. He first moved to Dorchester, a suburb ofBoston, and there had a daughter, named for her mother, Eunice. Hisnext two children were born in Southboro, indicating that he hadreturned to the Family farm, even though for only a short period. Hislater wanderings took him to Bolton, Litchfield, Conn., Staten Island,N.Y., and finally , to New Haven, Conn. His wife, Eunice, died atSouthboro on November 23, 1830, and it may have been this event aswell as the fact that by this time his brother, William, had inheritedthe
"Large Homestead" and its farm, that keot him on a traveller's path.He died in Hamden, Conn., the home of his only son, on November 30,1867, aged 87 years.

Joseph was the second son of 7 children. In his father's will, Joseph, alone of the seven children, received no bequest. No reason is knownor appears on the surface for such omission, unless it be that Josephmarried earlier then the other sons and probably received his farm lotfrom his father, William, and paid for it before his father's death, unlike James and William Jr.
Joseph's tombstone in the Old Burying Ground at Southboro recites,"The Most Respected Mr. Joseph Onthank who died March 31, 1820." Hiswife Lucy, died five years later on May 27, 1825.
