[12121] All data from Wilson. Mr. Newcomb celebrated his ninety-thirdbirthday anniversary 16 Mar. 1920, with all living children and fourgrandchildren. The cake was large to accommodate ninety-three candles.He also celebrated at the Knights Templar Hall with his Masonicfriends. He still remembers his trip from Vermont to Illinois bywagon, although his memory is failing in some respects. Horsebackriding has been his favorite mode of traveling until the past fewyears. He lost the sight of his right eye through the kick of a mule.He is still active and mounts upstairs to bed each evening withoutassistance. A familiar remark of his when accosted with "How are you?"is the reply, "Physically I never was better in my life, but mentallyand morally I'll let the other fellow tell it."
