Data from Halley. James, according to Emmett Starr, had 20 children byhis 2 wives. Nellie's were numbers 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, and16, 18 and 19 . Susie's were numbers 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 13, 15, and 17.Number 20 is listed seperately as though there were another wife. I amputting number 20, Nannie Starr on Susie's records for now. Source ofdeath of James noted in book "Cwy Ye Cherokee Blood" Vol. 1 compiledby Shirley Hoskins based on Eastern Cherokee Applications US Court ofClaims. Her address in 1982 was 2321 Brookwood Dr., Chattanooga, TN37421. Also book notes that a James S. Starr was in California in1851. (Note that one of the Halley's was also in California during theMexican War. The Halley wife was Susann, I think, and his name James??). A James Starr was also on old settlers roll which means he wentto the Oklahoma area before the removal in 1838 (Trail of Tears). Thepersons who moved on the trail of Tears were 'emigrants'.

James Starr, his brothers and his father, Caleb, supported emigration.His brother, Ezekial, travelled with his family to the west in 1834.James became a member of the Treaty Party, which advocated totaltribal removal, and with other members he signed the controversialTreaty of 1835. James Starr moved to the western Cherokee Nation in1837.
