Data from Fink and McLeester. Fink originally assigned this person asJohn Roger Reid. It appears that this may have been an error ormiscalculation.
According to the History of Washington Co., NY, three Reids arrivedin this country in Jun 1739. These were:
Duncan Reid and Mary Semple, his wife and children Alexander, Nichols,Angus and Jennie.
John Reid and Margaret Hyman, his wife and his son, Donald.
Roger Reid (no mention of wife and children arriving with him.
The History of Washington Co., NY further describes Petition 1763. Inthis Petition which deals with the Argyle Patent the following isgiven for each of these.
Duncan Reid, living, brought over his wife and eight children; alldead, 500 acres.
John Reid, living, and wife and five children; three boys, one girl,the daughter married, 350 acres.
Roger Reid, married, lives in Highlands and has three children, 200acres.
Further the Argyle Patent lists these three men and the acreagegranted which corresponds with that listed in the History ofWashington Co., NY.

March 2, 1764. Alex. MCNACHETN and others to the number of 107persons, emigrants and descendants of persons now deceased who alsoemigrated with Capt. Lauchlin CAMPBELL from North Britain in theyears 1738, 1739, and 1740 with a design to form a settlement on thenorthern frontier of this province, petitioned for 1000 acres for eachperson of them to be laid out in one tract
beginning at or about the head of South Bay extending southerly to thelands petitioned for by Ebenezer LACEY and others, easterly towards N.Hampshire line, and westerly by mountains and vacant lands stillvested in the Crown. The committee of his majesty's councilrecommended May 21st that 47,450 acres of the crown lands be giventhem, E. of Hudson's R., "adjoining on the S. to the 10,000 acresproposed to be granted to Donald CAMPBELL and others and Batten killon the W. to lands granted to John SCHUYLER and others, on the E. tolands proposed to be granted to Alex. TURNER and others, and to extendso far northward as to contain the full quantity above expressed."Grant made out accordingly, stating the quantity of land each is tohave, the location to be balloted for by the person or his agent, thetract to form a township forever to be named Argyle, to
have 1 supervisor, 2 assessors, 1 treasurer, 2 overseers of highways,2 overseers of the poor, 1 collector and 6 constables to be elected bythe inhabitants yearly on the 1st day of May, &c., &c.
