Data from McLeester gives middle name as Wood. Fink supplied middlename used here and states, "We know nothing about this Benjamin,except that he was drafted in the war, deserted, changed his name toIrving Polk and we never heard from him again. At one time Mother(Emma) got a message that he was living in Florida, don't know whatname he had assumed. She and Frank and Paula (son-in-law anddaughter) went to find him and Mother got cold feet and said that shedidn't want to upset him and his family."
He possibly had a son named Bennie. Emma Reed referred to Clarence asBennie.
Fink supplied the following:
Benjamin, the youngest son (Diggie) was called to go to war in WorldWar I. He ran away and came home and Grandpa took him back. He ranaway again, died his hair red and went to his brother Bob in NewOrleans. Bob would not let him stay and he disappeared. The familysay that they never heard from him again. Another deep dark secret.He was supposed to have married a lady, Lula Barnes before he went inthe service.

Fink's research papers included a copy of a Certificate of BirthRegistration for an Infant female Foltz, born in Michigan City, LaPorte Co., IN on Nov 24 1885 giving parents as W. and S. FieldingFoltz with the record being filed Nov 24 1885. The birthplaces forboth parents is given as IN. Certificate # 550 Book MC 1885 Page 43.There was also another copy of a different Certificate of BirthRegistration for a female with the date of birth as Nov 24 1885,parents W. and L. Fielding Foltz. On this certificate (# 412 BookCo.1, Page 312) the birth place of the father is IN and the mother isOH.

Data from McLeester and Fink. Hannah assumed the name of Montague. Shehad one child by marriage to Wells. This child was named Helen WellsEthridge Culpepper. She had a second child out-of-wedlock named FrankWells by a dentist named Rush. Hannah's death certificate gives herbirth as used here but family records give July 12 1881. Fink statesthat she doesn't know where the name Montague came from, but Hannah,Helen and Frank used that name. Hannah died as Mrs. H. J. Montague.
Fink gives the following:
Hannah J. Foltz married Judson Wells 4th day of July 1900 in La PorteCo., Indiana (have copy of marriage license). He filed suit for adivorce. You read the charges. He stated that they were married onthe 4th day of July, 1900 and they lived together as husband and wifeuntil 26th day of March 190l. That as a result of said marriage,there is one child, born January 17th, 190l, named Marion. Theyadvertised for Hannah to serve the papers, but never could locate her.
A search was made for Hannah and it was rumored she had moved toKankake, IL. Also a summons to the Sheriff of Marshall Co., IN forHannah's whereabouts. Judson said he believed she had moved to #209Liberty, St., Indianapolis, IN. The entire Foltz family, includingHannah and her daughter, Helen, were living in Hattiesburg, MS.
1905 City Directory, Hattiesburg, MS, Hannah is shown as Mrs. H. J.Montague, widow, bookkeeper for Dr. E. F. Rush, boards at 853 Main St.
Death certificate of Hannah (Mrs H. J. Montague living at 704 BernieceAve. Hattiesburgh, MS. Gives age as 43 yrs old, b born July 12, 1882;died Oct 19, 1926 of pulmonary tuberculosis. She was a stenographer.Certificate states that she was born in Ill. but I have a copy of herbirth certificate and she was born in Michigan City, Ind. Certificategives father, W. M. Fuller, born in Ind.; mother, Laura Fielding, bornin Ind. Information furnished by G. D. Etheridge (Helen's firsthusband, George.) Hattiesburg Undertaker, Hattiesburgh, MS.

Fink gave the following:
Uncle Henri & Uncle "Diggie" had taken Helen to visit Aunt Ruth andGrandpa for her graduation present. She said that it was miles andmiles in the boon docks. I have a copy of the following note:"Received of Ruth Hunt payment in full for all work and lumber doneand bought for her farm in Choctaw Co. Alabama this 15th day of June1915" Signed Irving A. Polk. I have no idea why they were in Alabamaunless it had something to do with
whatever made them change their name.

We have a copy of a birth certificate for Marshell Co.,IN that gives only "Male Foultz" born Nov 27 1883 recorded Oct 111884 with father given as William Foultz and no other information.Fink assumed that this was Robert's certificate as the date of birthwas so similar. A copy of Robert's death certificate gives his birthas Nov 26 1876, Argos, IN. This year is given as the birth year ofhis sister, Ruth Agnes in family records. Clearly research needs to bedone to unravel the correct or real dates.

I have a copy of a letter from "The Indiana Trust Company,Indianapolis Ind June 7th, 1905 to Miss Ruth A. Fuller, Hattiesburg,Miss.

I don't know what all this was about, but it seems that she may haveintended to return to Indiana at a later date under the assumed nameof Fuller.
Ruth bought property in the rural area of Hattiesburg, MS (Breland) onDec 17 1918.
Her death certificate as Ruth Agnes Hunt gives her age as 68 yrs, 8mos, 9 days, born IN, father W. M. Fuller b in OH, mother LauraFuller, b in KY.
There is on file, a copy of a hand-written receipt by Irving A. Polkto Ruth Hunt "payment in full for all work and lumber done and boughtfor her farm in Choctaw Co., Ala. this June 15th 1915."
