1950s). In her later years, Essie was mostly blind (maculardegeneration) and was a wonderful woman. Uncle Will was aback-slapping jokester who always had a magic trick or a piece ofcandy to share with us kids. He hated the Chicago Cubs and went togames at Wrigley field to cheer for the opponents."

Pierce said the following in an E-mail dated Feb 27, 1999: " I neverknew Uncle Harry. The family lore is as follows: Harry Pelle marriedMildred Wathen and they had a son, Harry Pelle, Jr. Harry Pelle, Jr.married Louise Coombs and they had a son, Harry Pelle III.Unfortunately, Harry Pelle, Jr. contracted some disease while in theservice (Air Force) and died young. Louise Coombs moved to Lexington,KY and remarried. Her new husband legally adopted Harry Pelle, III,and his name was changed to that of his new adopted father __?__."
Note from McLeester - There is no evidence that Andy's mother was evera Coombs so the family lore from Pierce is confused.
