Luther appears in the 1820 Indiana US Census in Dearborn County amongthe Maine migrants. From HISTORY OF DEARBORN & OHIO COUNTIES, pp544-5: Luther Plummer was an unassuming man of sterling worth & strictintegrity, looking to the welfare of his family & attentive to his owninterests. He put on no foolish style or attempts to appear incharacters other than his own, but like ornaments made of pure goldthey need no varnish or gilding, so with a true-hearted man, who isthe same at home as abroad, today and tomorrow, who acts well his partwithout pomp or dazzling parade. To say that Mr. Plummer was anhonest man would be no compliment, for like the description we onceheard of a certain person that he deserved no credit for being agentleman, he was one naturally, so with Mr. Plummer, he deserves nocredit for having been an honest man, he was one naturally.
