All data from McDowell. Anthony Annable of All Saints, Cambridge,England, was a Puritan. He came to Plymouth on the ship "Anne" Jul10, 1623 with wife Jane & infant daughter. He removed to Scituate in1634. He was a representative of General Court 2 yrs. He wasappointed with Cudworth to assist in revision of laws of colony in1636. He removed to Barnstable in 1639 and represented the town inGeneral Court 1646-1658. He held other important offices. He waslisted on roll of new commissioned officers & privates residing inBarnstable Aug 1643.

About 1659-1674 - Scituate & Barnstable - deputy to the PlymouthGeneral Court for Barnstable 1640-1645 - Shurtleff, Colony of NewPlymouth.
Had 4 acres of land allotted to him in division of lands in 1623 tothose who came over on the ship "Anne". On Oct 1,1634 he was electeda member to treat with the partners for the colony trade and the nextJanuary he was chosen constable of Scituate. On Oct 4 1636 he andJames Cudworth were a committee from Scituate to assist in therevision of the laws of the colony, he was juryman that year and in1638. In Jan 1638 Rev. John Lothrop, Mr. Timothy Hatherly, AnthonyAnnable & others of Scituate represented to the Court that they hadsmall portions of land and petitioned to the court to have the landsset off to them, between the North and South Rivers, which wasgranted.
He joined Mr. Lothrop's church at its organization, Jan 8 1634/5 andwas an exemplary member, yet he was never dignified with the title of"Mr." and was all his life called "Goodman Annable". He was "mostusefull in church and state".
He was a member of the General Court of Barnstable held in 1639 -1647, 1650-1651, 1653 and 1656-1657. He was not a member when theobnoxious laws against Quakers were enacted.
In 1643 he was appointed by the court as a member of the committee toprovide places of defense against any hostile attack of the Indiansand in 1645 "to propose laws to redress present abuse and to preventfuture".
The Order of the Colony Court Oct 10, 1643, requiring them to fortify"a place or places for the defense of themselves, their wives, andchildren, against a suddaine assult", included with 5 others toundertake this task was Anthony Annable.
In 1646 he was on a committee of one from each town in colony "toconsider a way to defray the charges of the magistrates tables by wayof exise on wine and other things". In 1661 he was named one of thegrantees of lands in Suckanesset, now Falmouth and in 1662 land wasgranted to his daughter, Hannah, one of the first born of the colonyand in 1669 a tract of land was granted to him on Taunton River, nearTiticut.
He was one of the founders of Scituite and of the church there. Withthe exception of Govenor Thomas Hinkley, no Barnstable man was moreoften employed in the transaction of public business.
Anthony was a puritan of the school of John Robinson, neither bigoted,nor intolerant. - an opponent of the harsh measures and bloody lawsenacted and enforced against Quakers & antibaptist in the Mass. Colonyand adopted in Plymouth in 1653, but never enforced in Barnstable.
His moral character was unimpeachable. He was never a party of alawsuit. - intellectually he had many superiors in the colony. He wasa man of sound judgement, discreet, cautious and never acting hastilyor unadvisably, a good neighbor, a usefull man and one who exhibitedin his daily walk, his Christian character.
He settled outside the town of Barnstable at West Barnstable,described on the record as : 1- 40 acres of upland 2- 20 acres ofmarshland 3- 15 acres of swampland ....... This was one of the bestfarms of Barnstable. ...4- 44 acres were added later to this farmextending to Annable's pond.

Anthony moved to Scituate prior to Sept 1634 and lived in one of ninesmall houses, that were there when the Rev. John Lothrop arrived9-27-1634
Anthony was listed on the first freeman's list of 1-1-1632/3
Anthony had been chosen by the court to be constable of the "ward" ofScituate on 1-1-1633/4
The court approved for Anthony and other men of scituate to move toSippican (now Rochester) on 1-12-1638/9. But he or none of the othermen ever moved there.
On 6-9-1630 Anthony sold a dwelling house and garden plot at Plymouthto Daniel Ray.....he served as deputy for Scituate 6-4-1639 and deputyfor Barnstable 6-2-1640
