All data from Gillis. Myrtle Maybelle Ward was born in Menomonie,Dunn Co., Wisconsin on Jan 13 1893. She was the daughter of OscarWard and Annie Ethel Hoyt. In 1900 she was living with her parents inMenomonie City, WI. Between 1900 and 1904 she moved with her parentsto Everett, WA. I found her living with Harold S. Aldrich whom hermother, Anna Ethel Hoyt married in 1906. Myrtle is age 16, Otto age 11and Gladys age 9 are also living with their mother and step-father,Harold Samuel Aldrich. They were enumerated on the Apr 16 1910 census.At the age of 17, Myrtle married William Duane Searles on the Nov 71911 in Everett, WA at the Congressional Church.
Myrtle and William D. Searles moved to Tolt near Carnation, WA betweenthe Nov 7 1911 and Oct 3 1912 when their first child Myrtle Anna wasborn. They then moved back to Snohomish, WA where they had theirsecond child, William Duane Searles, Jr. who was born on the Jul 311914. Then between 1914 and Dec 28 1916, they moved to Enumclaw, KingCo., WA where, on Dec 28 1916, they had their second son, Franklin(Frank) Alvin Searles. After Franklin's birth, Myrtle became verysick with milk fever (now they call it blood poisoning). She remainedfor nearly a year in the hospital. This left her with a knee that shecould not bend.
On the Nov 17 1920, she divorced William Sr. and gave him the custodyof Myrtle Anna and young Frank. Myrtle and Richard (Dick) Brennanmarried sometime after 1924. By 1929 Richard Brennan was back inEverett, WA living alone next door to his parents. Not long after thatMyrtle left Richard Brennan.
She and her next husband, Raymond Charles Smith, went to Glendale, LosAngeles, CA, where on the February 13 1931, Theodore Raymond Smith wasborn. Just outside the ranch, where they worked, movies were beingmade. They had a lot of fun watching them and got to meet some of thestars. In 1946 they bought 10 acres outside Wallula Junction, WA. Itwas a nice piece of property and Ray farmed it. The Governmentcondemned their acreage and turned it into a park. Ray and Myrtlebought 5 acres in the small town of Prescott, WA but, after some time,they sold this house in Prescott, WA as Myrtle wanted to get closer totown in case they needed a doctor. They moved to Walla Walla, WA in1959.
Myrtle passed away at the Blue Mountain Convalescent Center Jul 251975, she was cremated and buried in Prescott, WA where years beforethey had bought cemetery plots. Raymond died just a couple of weekslater at the Blue Mountain Convalescent Center on Aug 8 1975.
