"CELESTA CANFIELD BAKER
"Mrs. Celesta Baker, daughter of Edwin and Eliza Canfield, was bornAugust 12, 1847, near Manchester, in Dearborn County and died at herhome at Wilmington, Ind., early Friday morning
January 5, 1912.
In the year 1866 two very important events occurred in the life ofMrs. Baker, she was united with the Wilmington M.E. church under Rev.G.P. Jenkins and was united in marriage to Thomas Leroy Baker, Nov.15, 1866. To this union were born four daughters and one son.
Two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Stannah, of Madisonville, O., and Mrs. OmarElder of Greendale and her son, Gatch L. Baker survive her. Twodaughters, Alma and Mrs. Mittie James have preceded her tothe great beyond. Mr. Baker, the husband, departed this life March11, 1898.
Mrs. Baker leaves a sister, Mrs. Oliver Heustis, of Aurora, Ind., anda brother, Mr. Myron Canfield, of Decatur, Ill., and a host ofrelatives and friends...
The funeral service was held at the Wilmington M.E. church conductedby her pastor, Rev. U.S. Hartley, assisted by the G.A.R. ladies ofAurora. A large crowd of relatives and friends attended the funeraland the remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband inWilmington Cemetery."
