HHH has two different given names for this person, Seta and Liba.McDowell supplied correct name and documentation with "The Ancestorsand Descendants of John, Seba and David Bonta and sister Margaret VanVranken", 1939 compiled by Belle Hoyt Leighton as his source.
In the summer after his marriage Seba with his young wife and brotherDavid started out to the then far west, with all their worldlypossessions on an ox-cart, and the two men on horseback with gunsacross their saddles for food and protection, arriving at theirdestination, the thriving village of Marcellus, Onondaga Co., NY inthe very early fall. The brothers opened a Cobblers Shop as all shoeshops were then called. All boots and shoes were made to order. Whenthey opened their shop, they hired an English sign painter to painttheir name over the door. The original pronunciation of the Aaccording to the Holland Dutch which they all spoke up to this timewas very soft, so he painted a large sign and spelled the name"Bonta". As the thrifty merchants would not pay for a second sign andthe painter would not change it without pay, the name stood and hasbeen accepted by the descendants of these brothers.
They were joined very soon by their brother John and then their sisterMargaret and her husband Nicholas Van Vranken.
In the winter of 1835 and 1836, Seba moved to Jordan, Onondaga Co., NYand bought what was then known as the "Tavern". The brick building wasstill standing in 1939 in the center of town and was still an Inn. Inthis Tavern his last child was born and several of his children weremarried. In 1813 he sold the Tavern.
Seba is given as the third son, fifth child.
