OBITUARY
GREGG ALAN KINNEY, 52, of Highlands Ranch, CO.
Gregg was born July 7, 1948, at St. Lukes Hospital, Denver, Denver Co,CO to John Charles Kinney and Mildred Fay (Brandt) Kinney. He wasmarried September 7, 1968, in First Methodist Church, Lawrence,Douglas Co, KS to Julie Jean Reed, daughter of Rex Raymond Reed andRita Jean (Compton) Reed.
He was a 1970 graduate of the University of Kansas with a B. S. inBusiness and Industrial Administration. He was also a graduate of theColorado Graduate School of Banking. After his banking career heprovided banking, financial and consulting services to a variety ofbusinesses before entering the real estate sales profession. He was anavid golfer and loved visits to Puerto Vallarta.
Gregg Alan Kinney died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Swedish Hospital,Englewood, CO after a short battle with stomach cancer.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Julie Jean Kinney and son, Steven ReedKinney, of Highlands Ranch, CO, daughter, Karen Jean Kinney of PrairieVillage, KS, and sister, Kathryn Anita (Kinney) Tom of San Francisco,CA.
A memorial service will be held on Lookout Mountain at RocklandCommunity Church, Golden, CO at 11:00 AM on Monday May, 14. Cremainswill be scattered in the mountains. A memorial stone will be erectedin the Kinney family burial area (Section 1-3250-10) behind RudgeChapel at Wyuka cemetery, Lincoln, NE. Contributions may be made to CUCancer Center, 4200 E. 9th Ave., Box A-065, Denver, CO 80262.
From Gregg - After graduating with a B.S. degree in Business andIndustrial Administration from the University of Kansas in Lawrence,KS in Dec 1970, Gregg moved with his wife to Colorado Springs, CO towork for Mountain Bell (currently U.S. West). He left the phonecompany to get a real estate license in Oct. 1971. In Sep 1972 heenrolled at the University of Colorado Law School in Boulder, CO. InJan 1973, he began a banking career as a trainee with UniversityNational Bank in Denver, CO ($550 per month) and moved to Littleton,CO. He was promoted and transferred to First National Bank inLoveland, CO as Cashier, Chief Operating Officer in Jan 1977. In Sept1979, he went to work for Omnibank Aurora as Vice President andCashier and moved back to Littleton, CO. Gregg graduated from theColorado Graduate School of Banking in 1982. He was promotedPresident of Omnibank Arapahoe, N.A. in Aug 1983. Gregg left bankingin 1984. He worked as a banking consultant for several years untilhired as President of Bergen Park National Bank, Evergreen, CO in Apr1988. He formed a multi-bank holding company and organized a publicoffering. A large embezzlement was found in 1990 (the scum bag thiefthat embezzled the money was caught and spent time in Leavenworth, KSFederal Penitentary), but all investors lost the bank and all theirinvestment in the bank. Gregg worked as a financial consultant fromhome office with temporary offices in Las Vegas, NV; Newport Beach,CA; and Scottsdale, AZ. He moved to Highlands Ranch, CO and enteredresidential real estate sales in 1994. Gregg is listed in "Who's Whoin the West". Gregg was in the Kansas National Guard in Topeka, KSfrom 1969 until the end of 1970. When he moved to CO, he was assignedto the Colorado National Guard until 1972. From 1972 until hisdischarge in 1975 he was in the U.S. Army Reserves in Boulder, CO.
