Data from Fink and Chefalo with 1850 Federal Census. Zephaniah, Jr.appears on the 1880 Federal census in the household of his sister,Elizabeth and her husband, Pinkney Ross, as Jeff. At that time he waslisted as studying law.
Chefalo gave the following notes. Heustis, Zeph Jr, Co G, 10thInfantry, 1890 Oklahoma Territory Directory, Oklahoma City, OklahomaTerritory. A Zephaniah Heustis, age 52, was living in theSoutheastern Hospital for the Insane, in Jefferson County, IN, in1920. Research notes shows two Oliver Heustis from Wyoming who may beson and grandson of this Heustis.

In Dee's files I found more about the Zeph I have as Oliver's son andan estimation of his birth year via census data. Dee clearly thoughtthat the following Zephaniah was Oliver's son, Zeph. She was workingwith Caroline on this and trying to piece together what Caroline hadas her ancestry.
