Abraham settled first in Groton, MA where he enlisted Mar. 1775 for 8months in Capt. Farwell's Co. He later enlisted Dec. 1, 1775 for 12months in Capt. Joseph Moore's Co., of Col. William Prescott'sRegiment, both of MA. He fought at Lexington and Bunker Hill.

Born 20 Feb 1752; married 28 April 1773 Submit Morse of Marlboro,Mass. Settled first in Groton, Mass. for he was living there when heenlisted March 1775 for eight months in Capt. Farwell's Company, andhe later enlisted Dec. 1 1775 for twelve months in Capt. JosephMoore's Company, of Col. William Prescott's Regiment, both of Mass. Hefought at Lexington and Bunker Hill. On April 1, 1818 he madeapplication for a pension which was granted, giving his age as 66years and residence as Stowe, VT.
He moved from Groton, MA to Sharon, MA between April 1779 and January1781, and from Sharon to Reading, VT, from Reading he moved to Stowe,VT. The town records of Stowe show that a piece of land was conveyedto Abraham Amsden in 1805. From that time on until 1827, there arerecords of many real estate transactions in which Abraham and hisson's Levi, Asa, Abram and Samuel figure. The three sons Levi, Abramand Asa, moved from Stowe, VT. to Ohio and settled in the vicinity ofAshtabula about 1820.
In 1828 Abraham, together with his son Samuel moved to Ashtabula, OH,where Samuel purchased a farm about two and one half miles east ofAshtabula, on the South Ridge road. Abraham and his wife Submit livedon the farm with their son Samuel until their death. He died atAshtabula March 20, 1833 aged 81 years. His wife's death date is notknown.

[128] Abram and Mehitable resided at Stowe, VT until 1820, when they movedto Saybrook, OH and purchased a farm on the South Ridge Road. Thefarm was about two and one-half miles west of Ashtabula. Abram andMehitable both died of pulmonary trouble, he at age 46, and she 53years of age. Five of their children died of consumption.
