Simeon was a Revolutionary War Veteran. He enlisted in theContinental Army July 16, 1780, age 17, in Hampshire County, Conway,Massachusetts. He served as a private under Captain Zebulon King,Captain Blanchard, and Colonel Millan. He marched to Springfield,Massachusetts, then on to West Point to join the main army. He wenton fatigue at Stoney Point and helped move Washington's Army acrossthe river. He was discharged on Dec. 10, 1780 .
The following is a physical description of Simeon found in hisMilitary Pension Packet #5617, National Archives, Washington, DC:Amsden, Simeon , Conway. Descriptive list of men raised to reinforceContinental Army for the term of 6 months, agreeable to resolve ofJune 5, 1780; age , 17yr., stature 5 ft. 9 in, complexion light,residence Conway, arrived at Springfield July 16, 1780; marched tocamp July 16, 1780, under command of Capt. Zebulon King; also, payroll for 6 months men raised by the town of Conway for service in theContinental Army during 1780; marched July 15, 1780; discharged Dec.10, 1780; service 5 months, 3 days.

Simeon and Abigail moved their family from Massachusetts to New Yorkin 1788. They travelled to Albany first, a year later on to OntarioCounty where he was granted land stemming from his veteran status as aRevolutionary War Soldier.
